How to apply and renew
Use the city’s “Apply for an Alarm Permit” page for the application and current fees. PMAM Corporation administers permit issuance, renewals and related fee collection for San Antonio.
The system owner is responsible for obtaining the permit. Permits cannot be transferred to another person, property or alarm system. Outstanding false-alarm fees must be paid before a new or renewal permit is issued.
San Antonio requires permits for covered burglar and panic alarm systems. Each separately controlled alarm system needs a permit.
A stand-alone smoke detector that is not connected to an alarm panel does not need this permit. A property with only self-monitoring cameras also does not need it.

Police response
Police response is conditioned on an active permit; repeated false alarms and delinquency can result in revocation or restricted response under Chapter 25.
