False-alarm charges
False-alarm and administrative penalties are assessed to alarm companies, which may pass charges through to customers. Requests lacking required verification may be fined or disqualified from police response.
Police response
Intrusion/burglar alarms require verification by audio, video or a private guard before police dispatch. Duress, panic, holdup and medical alarms are exempt; self-monitored users may request help through 911.
